LuxSci has updated Account Administration on its members’ web site. Account Administration tools help users manage billing, updates, users, domains, web sites, databases, private labeled themes, and other account settings.
The new user interface offers a crisper presentation of information and provides a more unified and consistent feel across all administration pages. Navigation is much simpler too. The interface also integrates more AJAX components to make searching for users, domains, and web sites faster.

I read about how Gmail supports “multiple Inboxes” and this seemed like a nice new feature. However, LuxSci has allowed users to access the Inboxes and other folders from other accounts in its unified WebMail interface for over a year and a half now … i.e. this is old news. However, it’s not really “old news” as their “multiple Inbox” feature is named in misleading way — it is not supposed to give you access to other people’s Inboxes!
In this post, I’ll show you how to simulate multiple Inbox access in Gmail using the “multiple Inboxes” feature and indicate how this is not really a true multiple Inbox scenario and has some significant limitations. Then, we’ll show you how to set up the same thing in LuxSci. Finally, you’ll see how to use LuxSci for true shared folder access.

LuxSci has had many requests for a feature where account administrators can restrict users to a well-defined set of email recipients. This is very useful, for example, when setting up email for a specific purpose such as internal communications within a business or association, or in an educational or home setting to control where email is sent by minors.

LuxSci has released several new tools to assist account administrators. These include: Bulk user deletion and CSV downloads of information about all or selected users, aliases, and domains in your account. These functions were previously also available via LuxSci’s API; they are now also available to via our regular web-based administrative interface.

Clients who have multiple LuxSci accounts can now utilize a special feature called "Global Account Administration" that allows them to administer all (or any subset of) their accounts with a single login. This feature also permits searching across all accounts and access to some advanced controls for clients whose accounts are on dedicated servers.

As a slight refinement to the Account Admin Tools, administrators can now optionally restrict users in their account from updating their contact information (with the exception of the user’s secret question and answer). This is in addition to the existing options that allow administrators to restrict users from updating their mail filters, auto-responders, mail forwarding, or WebMail signatures.

LuxSci’s user administration options have been enhanced to give administrators even more control over what users can and cannot do. Now, administrators can optionally restrict users from accessing the following standard web-based email tools: change password, email forwarding, WebMail signatures, email auto-responders, custom email filtering, and spam and virus filtering.
The ability to restrict user access from these pages allows administrators to impose configurations on users that the users do not have the power to change. It also allows administrators to simplify WebMail for their users - handling some of all of these configurations themselves.

In addition to the SecureLine and Forced SSL enhancements, a few other changes have been made to the Account Administration pages:
- Users’ “Email Encryption” preferences can now be viewed and edited by account administrators under the “Manage Your Users” section of the Account Administration pages.
- The Theme Management tool for administrators with Private Labeled WebMail has been enhanced to allow more customization of the WebMail login pages. Administrators can now customize the titles of the login pages and optionally remove the “Forgot Password” link from the login page.
