LuxSci’s Outlook WebAideSynch Plugin allows users to import, export, and synchronize their WebAide Calendars, Tasks, and Address Books with Outlook 2002+ with the touch of a button.
This Outlook Plugin is now available free to all users; previously, an Enterprise WebAides license was required. This means that users who have not purchased an Enterprise WebAides license now have access to this plugin to synchronize their Calendar, Address Book, and any shared global WebAides with their Outlook client. Synchronizing with Outlook also makes it easy to synchronize with most mobile devices that have the ability to synchronize with Outlook.
Anyone using a LuxSci Calendar WebAide can now “publish” their calendar and make it available as iCal file accessible via a public Internet address (URL). Now, any program that can display the contents of an iCal file can display your LuxSci Calendar directly. I.e. Mozilla Sunbird, Thunderbird Lightning, Mac iCal, and PHP iCalendar are a few programs that can display calendars loaded from remote iCal files. Many other programs and systems, including those that support CalDAV, can also display iCal calendar files or synchronize with them.
The iPhone is a great piece of technology, but like all technology it has it’s quirks, as well as some features that you should be aware of when using it to send and receive email. Based upon our experience using iPhones ourselves and in supporting our clients’ varied use of iPhones for connecting to LuxSci email services, we have the following nuggets for you.
Tagging items has become one of the hallmarks of modern web applications. Delicious and FireFox allow you to tag your bookmarks, Facebook lets you tag people in photos. Flickr supports tagged pictures. Blogs permit you to tag your posts. The list goes on and on.
Tags are incredibly useful because they enable categorization of items in a dynamic and natural way. Items can have multiple tags and you can make them up yourself as you go, so that they are meaningful to you and in the context in which you are working.
The odd thing is that tags are not yet very prevalent in most mainstream email programs (except perhaps Gmail) and collaboration tools like contacts, calendars, etc. This is where LuxSci jumps in. LuxSci has had full tag support since June, 2007; in recent months, tagging has become easier and more powerful due to updates to our GUI (graphical user interface).
LuxSci has released several improvements to its WebMail and WebAides user interfaces that add to your productivity and are more user friendly and powerful. The most significant changes include:
In keeping with the recent improvements to our WebAide Address Books and Calendars, LuxSci is pleased to announce the release of the latest version of its WebAideSynch plugin for Microsoft Outlook. This version addresses several stability issues and bugs and also includes more robust support for entries containing content in most languages.
Clients can now manage personal and business activities using a modern interface
