Many times when a customer fills out a form on your website, they want a copy for their own records. Providing this copy of the submitted data often takes manual effort on your behalf to search your inbox, WebAides Documents, or database, extract the appropriate file, and email the file as an attachment back to the individual who filled it out.
Of course, this presumes that the submittee entered their email address accurately, and that you send the form back to their correct address. When sending a copy via this method, sensitive information such as medical data that needs to be HIPAA compliant could possibly be sent to the wrong person or insecurely, resulting in a possible breach and violation!
Now, with LuxSci SecureForm it is easy to provide the person submitting the form a copy securely, automatically and immediately after they submit your form.

Ink Signatures enable you to capture the hand written signatures of your web form users and to save these with their form submissions.
- Easy: Users can employ a mouse or stylus on desktop or laptop computers; a stylus or their finger on a mobile device
- Compatible: Works with all major web browsers as well as iPhone, iPad, and Android-powered mobile devices.
If you would like customers to actually sign their name to your web form, rather than merely checking a “checkbox”, now you can — and it is easy with the LuxSci SecureForm service.

LuxSci SecureForm service uniquely enables web sites and PDF forms to post their data and files to a secure URL and have that data automatically securely emailed to one or more recipients, uploaded to an S/FTP site, archived in an online collaborative WebAides file storage space, and/or saved to a MySQL database. With a few clicks and minimal changes to existing forms, customers can have sophisticated and secure forwarding, processing, and storage of their form posts, including re-filling the posted data into template PDF, html, xml, and other files.
Dynamic Form Data Template File Names
When using a PDF or other template file with Premium SecureForm, the uploaded data is re-filled back into the template and the resulting file is stored or transmitted to you. Use of template files enables you to receive the form data in a format or layout that matches your business process.
With “Dynamic Template File Names”, you can now have the name of the template file that results from each form post be created to contain data from the post itself and/or to contain date and time information. In addition to being able to substitute general date and time information (such as the year, month, day, hour, minute, and second of the post in your preferred timezone, and a general timestamp in GMT), you can substitute the contents of any submitted form field.

LuxSci’s SecureForm service enables you to quickly make your web site or PDF forms secure and HIPAA compliant. Receive the form data, including uploaded files, via secure email or download the data securely from LuxSci’s web interface. It also supports insecure form posts and delivery, making the usual form-to-email process easy to setup and protected from form Spam.
Typically, when using SecureForm, your web or PDF form will post to a secure web site address (URL) that is provided by LuxSci in the LuxSci.com domain name. I.e. something like “https://secureform.luxsci.com/perl/post/xxxxxxx”. Once the form data is processed, the end user is redirected to a success or failure web page on your site (for web forms), or is shown a success or failure PDF that you provide (for PDF forms). I.e. under most conditions, the end user will never see the domain name to which the form is posted.
For customers who wish to use their own web site URL for the secure form posts, perhaps something like “https://forms.yourdomain.com/perl/post/xxxxxxx”, LuxSci now has a solution that does not require getting a dedicated server!

LuxSci’s SecureForm now supports FDF formats when submitting your Adobe PDF Forms to the service. FDF supports the use of modified form data from the server. SecureForm is appropriate for:
- PDF forms distributed using email, a web site, or other means
- People who fill out PDF forms and press a “submit form” button in the form itself
- Receiving filled-in versions of those PDFs securely [or insecurely] to your email inbox
- Sending a [secure] email containing a copy of the filled in form
SecureForm is quick and easy, and is HIPAA-compliant.
LuxSci’s latest update to SecureForm is support for PDFs submitted using “FDF” format through Adobe Acrobat Professional. Now you can submit your form data via FDF (instead of HTML), have that data filled back in to your original Acrobat Professional PDF document, and receive the resulting filled-in form in your inbox. FDF support expands the range of PDF creation software compatible with SecureForm.
In addition, SecureForm now offers the option to receive data in a flattened or unflattened PDF–which is useful if you wish to retain certain interactive functions of your original PDF form such as rollover button-images.
If you need to collect data from PDF forms (or web forms) and have it emailed to you securely [or insecurely], give LuxSci SecureForm a free try.

We recently discussed email security for accountants and mentioned that the use of password-protected files is not usually a very good solution for meeting data privacy needs. After writing this and getting some feed back, we thought that the issue of password-protected files really deserves some further discussion. Many people are under the assumption that if they use the “password protection” features of whatever software they are using, that their data is safe and secure. However, this is not necessarily the case. Why?
Using password-protected files to secure data is fast and easy and built into many applications. Why not use it? Certainly, password protecting files is much better than not doing so. However, there are several things that determine how secure these “protected” files really are.

A proprietary "Deep Content Analysis" filter has been added to our "Email Defense" Premium Email Filtering solutions. This anti-spam filter targets attachment-based spam variations, specifically PDF spam. PDF spam is the latest generation of image spam, which uses graphics instead of other masking techniques to conceal an unsolicited advertisement’s call to action.
