LuxSci has given its Task List widgets a complete overhaul, improving their usefulness as well as their usability. The Task List Widgets provide a simplified and very slick window on your underlying Tasks WebAides, available to anyone with a WebAides license. Like all widgets, they can be included in any workspace, like the Welcome page or the Account Administration page. They can also be accessed via user-specified hot keys from any page in LuxSci’s site.
Some of the enhancements to the Task List Widget, all of which operate using AJAX, include:

Many of our clients prefer and sometimes require the use of “Distribution Lists” to send email messages to multiple recipients.
We are often asked if LuxSci supports “Distribution Lists”. The answer is “Yes”, and we have three different approaches to send email messages to pre-defined lists of recipients. We feel that is helpful to present each solution using the same requirements and to compare the relative merits of each.

LuxSci’s Outlook WebAideSynch Plugin allows users to import, export, and synchronize their WebAide Calendars, Tasks, and Address Books with Outlook 2002+ with the touch of a button.
This Outlook Plugin is now available free to all users; previously, an Enterprise WebAides license was required. This means that users who have not purchased an Enterprise WebAides license now have access to this plugin to synchronize their Calendar, Address Book, and any shared global WebAides with their Outlook client. Synchronizing with Outlook also makes it easy to synchronize with most mobile devices that have the ability to synchronize with Outlook.
Outlook WebAideSynch works with Outlook version 2002 and newer. Existing users can download and install this plugin from LuxSci’s help pages: WebAideSynch: Synchronization Plugin for Outlook.

LuxSci now supports manual and automated backups and restores of all data in all WebAides. This means that address books, calendars, tasks, blogs, and other collaborative WebAides are backed up to protect you from accidental data loss and also allow you to back them up yourself for archival purposes.

LuxSci’s WebAide Blogs, Notes, and Links have been updated to support importing of entries from RSS 2.0 files and from CSV files (i.e. files exportable from spreadsheet programs like Microsoft Excel). It is now very easy to both export and import data from all of these types of collaborative tools.

LuxSci users with Blogs, Links, Notes and Documents WebAides can publish the information in these tools as a public RSS 2.0 feed. Similarly, LuxSci users can publish their Calendars as a public iCal file. These public files can be password protected.
However, it is often the case that when automating data transfer (i.e. having your Blog show up as a page in your internal Wiki) the programs that read the RSS and/or iCal feed might not support password protection. So, how can you ensure privacy and security without using password protection?

If you have the need for a personal diary or journal, or an internal corporate blog or FAQ, LuxSci’s Blogs WebAide is an ideal solution. Blogs WebAides allow you to create any number of personal or collaborative Blogs with zero setup and zero software installation. Blogs are accessible via LuxSci’s WebMail interface or using RSS feeds.
LuxSci’s Blogs WebAide were previously called “eJournals”. The new name better represents the many features associated with a blog.

LuxSci has completed the major re-design of its WebAides collaboration tools; a final installment brings all WebAides up-to-date in terms of functionality and the user interface in both the Full and Xpress WebMail portals. The project to modernize our collaboration suite began more than one year ago. Of course, “final installment” is a misnomer as the job is never done — periodic feature updates are scheduled.
Significant updates include:

Anyone using a LuxSci Calendar WebAide can now “publish” their calendar and make it available as iCal file accessible via a public Internet address (URL). Now, any program that can display the contents of an iCal file can display your LuxSci Calendar directly. I.e. Mozilla Sunbird, Thunderbird Lightning, Mac iCal, and PHP iCalendar are a few programs that can display calendars loaded from remote iCal files. Many other programs and systems, including those that support CalDAV, can also display iCal calendar files or synchronize with them.
