Advanced features, such as tasks, other kinds of WebAides, and fine-grained sharing controls require purchasing a license.
These can be obtained a-la-cart for just the users who need them.
The following features are available in all types of WebAides.
However, some are only available to users who have a WebAide license (i.e.
"Premium Features").
LuxSci Workspaces, combined with Widgets and WebAides, offer you
effortless collaboration with other users in your account. You can manage
task lists, calendars, collaborative notepads, shared email folders, plus
custom Widgets! You have a complex, but intuitive, set of permission
controls at your fingertips, to help you manage who has access to shared
Workspaces and WebAides. To be fully functional, LuxSci Workspaces only
require a modern web browser like Internet Explorer v6+, Firefox v2+,
Safari v3+, Opera v9.6+, or Google Chrome.
What Can Workspaces Do For You?
A WebAide license provides the user with a widgetized "Welcome Page"
that has been renamed to "Workspace" to better reflect the power of
customization and collaboration.
Licensed users can:
Create any number of Workspaces with arbitrary configurations of widgets per workspace
Share Workspaces with other licensed users
Add Widgets only available to licensed users -- such as email folder viewing widgets and many types of WebAide access widgets.
Additionally, Workspaces are "active" in that:
Widgets based on WebAides (i.e. Calendars, Address Books, Blogs,
Tasks, Links, Documents, etc.) auto-update themselves so that any changes
made to the underlying entries are visible to the user within one minute.
The "Email Quick Check" widget will display the status of multiple
email folders and automatically update every two minutes.
The "Email Folder" widget displays an interactive view of the
contents of a specific email folder. This widget auto-updates itself with
changes to the messages in it evey 2 minutes.
The "Notepad" widget auto-saves your changes, merges them with
changes made by others and auto-updates your display with the most recent
merged content — real-time collaborative note taking.
Custom widgets can be aded whose content can also update automatically
Workspaces for Mobile Mode
Workspaces are also designed to work well with LuxSci's Mobile Mode
— the interface streamlined to work on the small screen of today's
modern smartphone. You can:
Access any Workspace from Mobile Mode
Customize your preferences so that when you login to the Web
Interface in Mobile Mode, you go to a specific Workspace. I.e. make a
Workspace that contains only what you want when you login via Mobile Mode.
Note: you cannot create or manage WorkSpaces in Mobile Mode.
Workspaces are Flexible and Intuitive
Workspaces are visual and easily to customize. Workspaces feature many
great tools like Drag and Drop, Resizing, Quick Access Hotkeys, Changing
Columns per Workspace. You can also organize Workspaces by priority or
popularity. Workspaces allow you to collaborate effortlessly with others
in your organization by presenting information in formats that reflect how
you work everyday. Features include:
Reduce clutter by subscribing only to the Workspaces you want
Share any Workspace you create with individuals, groups of users that
you define, and/oor even everyone
Make any Workspace the default so when you login to your account or
access the Workspaces page it displays the primary Workspace that you
access most frequently.
Affordability
LuxSci offers collaboration tools that are affordable to you and your
business partners. Frequent updates to our collaboration offerings, plus

Widgets have become ubiquitous website add-ons. They make organization

widgetized its Workspaces and account administration to reflect this
trend. Workspaces and account administration pages can be organized to
your preference.

also have the convenience of having each Widget being locked into a
column. Widgets won.t end up being a cluttered mess, but instead are
organized and easy to find. Widgets offer:
Drag and Drop.
Organization for PDAs and desktop
computers, using columns, that make it easy to read even on the smallest
screen (cell phones and other mobile devices)
Minimize a widget you
don't need, but don't want to delete.
Share a widget with other
users using a Workspace
Widgets Included
Every LuxSci account comes with the added benefit of having widget
functionality included. It transparently integrates itself into many
LuxSci pages and allows you to get what you need when you need it.
Shared Folders
LuxSci's WebMail suite allows you to share selected email folders
with other users so that they can have read-only or read-write access
to the messages therein.
With this feature, you can access your email and the email of selected
other people all from a single unified interface. You can even drag and
drop messages between shared folders. Read more about
shared folders.
Message Annotation
An annotation is extra information (a note) associated with a
particular email message. LuxSci's WebMail enables you to add notes to any
email message (even messages in shared folders) such that those notes are
visible the next time you or anyone else looks at that message in WebMail,
IMAP, or POP.
Annotations can be text or HTML, and they include the date and time the
email annotation was made as well as who made it. You can annotate a message any
number of times.
Annotation is particularly useful in shared folders. In this kind of
set up, adding notes or details to a shared email will ensure that others
will see your important extras upon reading. Read more
about annotation.
Message Tagging and Coloring
Email tagging enables you to color code and label your email messages
with multiple keywords of your choosing. This process helps you sort your
messages into categories and to visually identify particular types of
messages by color. Managing your email has never been so simple.
When multiple people are sharing the same email folders, tags enable
you to categorize messages and/or assign them to people. LuxSci's tags
are compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird and any other IMAP client that
supports "IMAP Keywords" ... so you can see the tags via IMAP as well! Read more about tags.
Shared IMAP Access
While shared folders are not visible to sharees when they connect to
their personal IMAP accounts,
LuxSci does allow multiple connections by different people to the same
IMAP account. So, you can have shared IMAP and WebMail access by:
Creating a user that will be shared
Setting up your users' IMAP clients (i.e. Thunderbird or Outlook) to
connect to both their personal email and to this shared user's email
accounts.
Setting the shared email user to share some or all of its folders with the
other users in your account, making its folders visible in their
WebMail interfaces
In this way, your users can collaborate on email both via IMAP and via
WebMail, taking advantage of the benefits of each system as needed.
File Sharing
An important aspect of collaboration, beyond the coordinating of
schedules and tasks, is the sharing of files. We provide two methods for
sharing files. You can use our WebAide Documents file sharing tool or, if
you also have web hosting with LuxSci, you can set up password protected
web-based directories that can be accessed via an FTP-like program (which
supports DAV). You can also mount these directories on your desktop as a
network drive allowing it to be accessed as if they were located on your
computer.
Pricing
WebAide Pricing
Enterprise WebAide service is available as an upgrade at any LuxSci account that includes email or web
hosting services. It is priced "per-licensed user" and is tiered based on
the number of licenses purchased.
Note that many basic WebAide, Workspace, Widget, and Email Sharing features are
available to all hosting users without the need to purchase a license. It is the advanced
features that require a license.
Our WebAide user interface is fully integrated with WebMail and takes
advantage of modern web browser features (like AJAX and browser-based
storage) for ease of use and a powerful feature set. Some user interface
features include: remembering entry data for fast display, dragging and
dropping of entries, instant searching and sorting, fast entry creation,
entry tagging and color coding, selecting multiple entries or multiple
WebAides using the mouse, and selecting, re-sizing, and re-arranging list
columns using the mouse.
You can tag your entries with any number of labels to aid in sorting,
searching, and categorization. The same tag system is used across all
WebAides and in WebMail for your email messages. Users can also specify
colors for their tags so that entries tagged with them will be visually
distinct.
LuxSci performs automated backups of all WebAides and keeps
daily copies of these backups for 2 days and weekly copies for 4 weeks.
LuxSci support can restore the content of any of your WebAides at any
time from these backups. Additionally, users can manually make their own
backups of any of their WebAides for offline storage or
archival. These backup files can be later restored by the user (or any
user with access to it) any time that data is needed.
Users with access to multiple WebAides of the same type, i.e. multiple
calendars, can view all entries for any arbitrary combination of these
WebAides in a single "consolidated" view. This makes it easy to search
and sort across WebAides, print combined lists, and view data from
different sources in the same list.
Only people with a login
to LuxSci's web site can possibly access your WebAide (it is not public,
unless you explicitly "publish" its content via a public link). You can
specify exactly who has permission to view, add entries, edit entries,
make comments, and administer your WebAide. You can specify this on a per
user, per user group, and/or per account basis. You can share your WebAide
with other members of your account and/or members of other accounts -- you
decide.
In addition to our access controls which allow you to specify exactly
who can see your information, LuxSci has a very strict privacy policy - our technical support staff
will never access your WebAide data without your prior consent.
Users can easily share WebAides with everyone in their domain or
account. Access permissions such as read, edit, create, delete, and
comment can be granted or denied. Administrators can auto-subscribe their
users to WebAides.
Share your Webaides with specific users or User Groups. Specify access
permissions such as read, edit, create, delete, and comment on a per-user
or per-group basis. Complex sharing arrangements can be easily set up
with arbitrary access permissions for different groups and users.
Unlicensed users get a single personal address book and calendar and can
access any WebAides shared with them by other users. However, only
licensed users can create additional adress books, calendars, and other
types of WebAides. Licensed-users can create any number of
WebAides of each type; every WebAide instance is independent and has its
own sharing properties and entries.
Every user with access to the WebMail portal gets a personal address book.
This address book can be shared globally with everyone in the user's
domain or account. It is easy and free to have a global address book.

Import Wizard makes it easy to import from any source
that can produce data stored in these supported formats.
Our address books are tightly integrated with WebMail email composition.
The To, Cc, and Bcc address inputs auto-complete and give smart
suggestions from your address books (by searching email, name, company,
and nickname fields). Additionally, the pop-up address book viewer tool
makes it very easy to search your address books and select entries for use
during email composition.
Access address book information via our User API. This allows you to write custom
programs that import, export, and synchronize address book data with your
LuxSci WebAide Address Books.

Wizard makes it easy to import from any source that can
produce data stored in these supported formats.
Users can publish any WebAide Calendar as a "Public iCal File". This
allows anyone or any program that has Internet access to download [read
only] your full calendar data (including reminders and recurrence) using
this special URL. This "public" access to your calendar data is optional
and off by default. If enabled, it can be password-protected and it can be
accessed over SSL.
Calendars support emailed reminders of events to one or more email
addresses. You can configure when these reminders are sent using absolute
or relative time criteria.
Calendars support extensive daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly recurrence
patterns. Users can also edit and delete individual events in a
recurrence pattern.
Assign events to specific users and/or Groups of users, or create private
events that only you can see. Optionally, have notifications auto-emailed
to users when events are assigned to them.
You can provide HTML-formatted annotations and comments along with each
event. Each event can have any number of comments created by any numer of
permitted users. These comments can also contain file attachments.
Access calendar information via our User
API. This allows you to write custom programs that import, export,
and synchronize calendar data with your LuxSci WebAide Calendars.
Users need to have a WebAide license in order to create their own Tasks WebAides.
However, even without a license, users can access Tasks WebAides if
these are shared with them by other users.
Licensed users can use customizable Task List and ToDo List Widgets to
display and interact with simplified views of their Tasks on their Welcome
page and other pages. These widgets also provide easy access for mobile
devices.
Import or export your Tasks WebAides using CSV files. Our Import Wizard
makes it easy to import from any source that can produce

addresses when a task is marked as complete. Additionally, you can track
completion history (who marked what task complete when) for your tasks for
anyone to view at any time.
You can provide HTML-formatted annotations and comments along with each
task. Each task can have any number of comments created by any number of
permitted users. These comments can also contain file attachments.
Access calendar information via our User
API. This allows you to write custom programs that import, export,
and synchronize calendar data with your LuxSci WebAide Calendars.
Users need to have a WebAide license in order to create their own Blogs
WebAides. However, even without a license, users can access Blogs
WebAides if these are shared with them by other users.
Licensed users can use customizable Blog Widgets to display and interact
with simplified views of their Blogs on their Welcome page and other pages.
These widgets also provide easy access for mobile devices.
Export some or all of your Blog posts into XML, CSV, WXR (Wordpress), or
RSS files. Export the file attachments for these entries as a ZIP file.
(Note that encrypted file content cannot be exported in this way).
Users can publish any Blog as a "Public RSS v2.0 File". This allows
anyone or any program that has Internet access to download a full or
summary view of the content from all or the most recent posts in the Blog
WebAide using this special URL. This "public" access to your data is
optional and off by default. If enabled, it can be password-protected and
it can be accessed over SSL.
You can choose to encrypt your posts, attached files, and associated comments. Users
can create their own personal PGP security certificates using our security
tools and then they can easily create encrypted posts. Supports the
specification of exactly who will be allowed to decrypt the posts on a
per-post basis, and verification of digital signatures on all encrypted
content. Posts encrypted via PGP are very secure. Even the technical
staff cannot access their content without access to your PGP key password
(which is never saved in plain text on our servers).
You can make HTML-formatted comments on any post. Each post can have any number of
comments created by any number of permitted users. These comments can
also contain file attachments and be encrypted.

manager or drag and drop. You can even encrypt/decrypt the files as they
are bulk uploaded/downloaded. With these bulk file management tools, it
is quick and easy to deal with large numbers of files.
Export some or all of your Documents entries into XML, CSV, or RSS files.
Export the file attachments for these entries as a ZIP file. (Note that
encrypted file content cannot be exported in this way, though it can be
exported using the bulk download feature.)
Users can publish any WebAide Document as a "Public RSS v2.0 File". This
allows anyone or any program that has Internet access to download a list of
some or all files in the Documents WebAide using this special URL (the
files themselves are not included, but links to them are). This "public"
access to your data is optional and off by default. If enabled, it can be
password-protected and it can be accessed over SSL.
You can choose to encrypt files and the notes and comments on them. Users
can create their own personal PGP security certificates using our security
tools and then they can easily create encrypted entries. Supports the
specification of exactly who will be allowed to decrypt the files on a
per-file basis, and verification of digital signatures on all encrypted
content. Entries encrypted via PGP are very secure. Even the technical
staff cannot access their content without access to your PGP key password
(which is never saved in plain text on our servers).
You can provide HTML-formatted annotations and
comments along with each file. Each file can have any number of
comments created by any number of permitted users. These comments can themselves
also contain file attachments and be encrypted.
Users need to have a WebAide license in order to create their own Notes
WebAides. However, even without a license, users can access Notes WebAides
if these are shared with them by other users.
Users can publish any Notes WebAide as a "Public RSS v2.0 File". This
allows anyone or any program that has Internet access to download the
content of all notes or recent notes this special URL. This "public"
access to your data is optional and off by default. If enabled, it can be
password-protected and it can be accessed over SSL.
Users need to have a WebAide license in order to create their own
Passwords WebAides. However, even without a license, users can access
Passwords WebAides if these are shared with them by other users.
All password entries are PGP-encrypted. Users must create their own
personal PGP security certificates using our security tools and then they
can easily create the encrypted password entries.
Store arbitrary HTML-formatted notes about each password entry using the
"Notes" field. A visual editor for entering and editing the comments is
included.
You can provide HTML-formatted annotations and comments along with each
password entry. Each entry can have any number of comments created by any
number of permitted users. These comments can themselves also contain file
attachments and will all be encrypted.
This special command allows users to decrypt all password entries that
they have access to and view the data in an HTML grid or save it as a CSV
file. With this feature, it is easy to backup all of your password data,
even though each entry is individually encrypted with possibly different
keys.
Users need to have a WebAide license in order to create their own Links
WebAides. However, even without a license, users can access Links WebAides
if these are shared with them by other users.
Licensed users can use customizable Links Widgets to display and interact
with simplified views of their Links on their Welcome page and other pages.
These widgets also provide easy access for mobile devices.
Users can publish any Links WebAide as a "Public RSS v2.0 File". This
allows anyone or any program that has Internet access to download a list
of all of your Links with this special URL. This "public" access to your
data is optional and off by default. If enabled, it can be
password-protected and it can be accessed over SSL.
Users need to have a WebAide license in order to create their own Groups
WebAides. However, even without a license, users can access Groups WebAides
if these are shared with them by other users.
Once you create Groups of users in a User Groups
WebAide, you can share other WebAides and Email Folders with those Groups
using the Sharing properties of those objects. This allows you to
specify access control settings on a Group-wide basis. In particular,
once you have setup the access privileges for a given Group, you do
not have to configure anything on a per-user basis. Merely adding or
removing users from the Group will add and remove all respective
permissions from those users.
Each Group can have its own
PGP security certificate. When making encrypted WebAide entries (i.e. in
Blogs, Documents, or Passwords WebAides), one must
choose explicitly who will be able to view/decrypt the resulting entry. If you
have a Group with its own certificate, then you can select the
Group as a recipient. Then, any member of the group can access the
encrypted entry as long as they know the password to the Group security certificate.
In particular, this means that if you add or remove users from the Group,
they immediately gain or lose access to these encrypted entries without
the necessity of re-encrypting all the entries for the new users. With
this feature, use of encryption among large groups of people becomes
feasible and easy.
A Group can be associated with an email Distribution List. This is an email
address that forwards copies of all email sent to it to the users in the
distribution list. By managing the Group membership, you also manage the
distribution list recipients.
"Wanted to thank you for offering a very fine service. For the last 8 years I have been managing my own Exchange Server, server-side virus checking, and Spam control. I have now switched to your service and am getting a much better level of service, at lower cost of operation. In particular I am very pleased with the performance and availability of your servers, and with the effectiveness of the SPAM control that you offer. My e-mail load has dropped dramatically due to better elimination of SPAM."
