About eJournals

eJournal WebAides are incredibly versatile information storage and collaboration tools. Here are some of the common applications:

Diaries: Create private (or shared) diaries or personal journals. This is much like the popular "web logs" or "Blogs", except that your journal is not visible on the public Internet - you decide who has access!
Bulletin Boards: Create "Yahoo! Groups-like" and "Google Groups-like" bulletin boards and determine who has permission to view and/or make entries.
File Storage: Create an annotated online file archive. Corporate Documentation: Store corporate documents, information, internal notes, etc. online. You determine who can read the information and who can add to or edit it.
Collaborations: Collaborate on documents, projects, specifications, or anything. Create a forum where people may edit or comment on each others contributions, add new categories of thought, etc.
Your Custom eJournal: You can configure your eJournal settings to meet your particular needs in terms of usage, display, and access control.

Some eJournal Features

Markup. You are not limited to text entries. There are powerful content markup commands for altering the display of your eJournal entries (make links, change colors and fonts, make lists, etc.)
Attachment Files. You can attach any number of files to your eJournal entries.
Tags. You can tag your entries with any number of labels to aid in sorting, searching, and categorization. The same tag system is used across all WebAides and in WebMail for your email messages.
Make Comments. You can choose to allow your eJournal users to make comments on existing eJournal Entries.
Search. You can search for text, select by date range, by entry author, by size, and many other parameters.
Encryption. You can choose to encrypt individual eJournal entries and attachments. Users must have created their own personal security certificates using our security tool before they can create encrypted entries. Supports the specification of the recipients of encrypted data on a per-entry basis, and verification of digital signatures on all encrypted content. Entries encrypted via PGP are very secure. Even our technical staff cannot access their content without access to your PGP key password (which is never saved in plain text on our servers).
Access Tracking. You can enable access tracking on your eJournals so that users can see, for every entry, who created, viewed, or edited the entry and when.
XML, CSV, and ZIP Export. Export some or all of your eJournal entries into XML or CSV files. Export the file attachments for these entries as a ZIP file. All proprietary content markup is converted to HTML before export so the exported files have no dependencies on LuxSci. If you want to stop using eJournals, you can simply export them and walk away - preserving ALL of your important data in a standard format! (Note that encrypted content cannot be exported in this way).
Access Control. Only people with a login to LuxSci's web site can possibly access your WebAide (it is not public). You can specify exactly who has permission to view, add entries, edit entries, make comments, and administer your WebAide. You can specify this on a per user, per user group, and/or per account basis. You can share your WebAide with other members of your account and/or members of other accounts -- you decide.
Additional Privacy. In addition to our access controls which allow you to specify exactly who can see your information, LuxSci has a very strict privacy policy - our technical support staff will never access your WebAide data without your prior consent.
Date Tracking. Tracks created and modified dates for all entries and eJournals.
Inbound Email. Create custom email filters to save content and attachments from inbound email messages into your eJournal WebAides.
