Custom User Contact Information Fields: LuxSci now allows account administrators to define up to three custom contact information fields for storage of additional information along with their users. The administrators can define the names of these fields, can manage them via the web site or API, and can include them in dynamic domain-wide taglines.
Revised Domain-Wide Taglines: LuxSci's domain-wide tagline features have been expanded. These features allow account administrators to define content to be appended to the end of every email message sent by their users. New features include (a) dynamic substitution of user contact information, and (b) the option of the taglines being added as attachments or inline.

With the dynamic substitution of user contact information, the tagline can be configured to automatically include selected parts of the sender's contact information in the tagline content when the message is sent. This allows the global tagline to also act like a "signature" by including the sender's contact information in a format that is uniform and automatic for all users.

Additionally, account administrators can now choose to have their taglines automatically included "inline" at the end of the message's text and/or HTML body content instead of being added at the end of the message as a separate attachment.

New Reporting Feature: LuxSci has released a new reporting feature making CSV downloads of all or selected aliases and forwards in an account a snap.

December 1, 2006

Archive Messages: LuxSci has added an "Archive" button feature to WebMail making it easy to save selected messages to a single "Archive" folder for later access.

Outlook WebAideSynch v3.0 Released: The latest version of LuxSci's WebAideSynch tool has finally arrived -- version 3.0! With this update, our powerful Outlook plug-in now boasts support for synchronizing your Outlook Task data with LuxSci WebAides, in addition to the already implemented Calendar and Address Book capabilities. WebAideSynch 3.0 also addresses many bugs and technical issues from previous versions, making it the most robust update yet.

Outlook WebAideSynch is available to all users of our Enterprise WebAides.

Registration of .mobi Domains: Though our partner OpenSRS, LuxSci can now register domain names ending in the new .mobi extension.

October 8, 2006

New WebMail Template Features: LuxSci has greatly improved its support for email templates in its WebMail interface. LuxSci now supports arbitrary HTML and text email templates and makes it easy to create and use Templates.

New Email Folder Features: LuxSci has released all new IMAP and POP Server software that provides the following new benefits to our clients:
  • Unlimited folder sizes: Each email folder can now be of any size; LuxSci no longer limits individual email folders to being at most 2GB in size.
  • Unlimited messages in folders: Email folders can hold any number of email messages.
  • Performance for large folders: Folders that are very large and/or that have very many email messages in them will no longer be slow to access and use. While small folders will always be faster than large folders to some degree, accessing large folders is now very fast. Note - this is no excuse to be lazy!
  • Folders within Folders: LuxSci now supports email folders that can contain both messages and other email folders. Even your INBOX can now have arbitrary sub-folders. Previously, users who wanted a hierarchical folder organization had to create special "directories" that could contain folders and directories but which could not themselves contain messages. These directories are no longer necessary.
  • UIDPlus: LuxSci's IMAP and POP servers now support the special "UIDPlus" extension that allows email clients to optimize some operations and which makes synchronization of online and offline copies of your email message stores simpler and more reliable for your email clients.

August, 2006

New Alternate POP and IMAP Ports: LuxSci now provides alternate ports for POP and IMAP connections to help our users with difficulty connecting to our servers due to firewalls blocking the usual ports.

POP users may now optionally connect to their LuxSci POP server using port 2110 for normal insecure POP, and port 2995 for secure POP over SSL.

IMAP users may now optionally connect to their LuxSci IMAP server using port 2143 for normal insecure IMAP, and ports 2993 and 443 for secure IMAP over SSL. The latter port, 443, is the usually used for secure web site connections and is thus open on most firewalls. So, most users should be able to make secure IMAP connections no matter what kind of firewall they are behind (assuming they are entitled to make IMAP connections to LuxSci).

Note that LuxSci still provides the following alternate SMTP ports for its SMTP users: 80, 2025 and 6025 for insecure SMTP and SMTP over TLS, and 465 and 6465 for SMTP over SSL.

Inbound Email Encryption with TLS: LuxSci now supports encryption of inbound email messages during their transport to and from LuxSci and other email servers. This ensures that your messages are protected from eavesdropping during transport even if the messages themselves are not encrypted using SecureLine. Note that the messages will only be encrypted during transport when sent from an email server that supports TLS (like LuxSci's servers do).

This feature also means that all email sent internally from one user on LuxSci to another user using LuxSci will be encrypted during transport, even if the recipient uses Email Defense. I.e. internal email can be fully HIPAA-compliant, even without SecureLine.

WebMail Enhancements: LuxSci introduces a series of enhancements to its WebMail interface:
  • SecureLine: Users of LuxSci who receive SecureLine Escrow messages and view them in WebMail will now be able to access the secure content of these messages much more easily. WebMail now recognizes SecureLine Escrow messages and displays a quick access form in the WebMail message display page, saving recipients several steps that otherwise would be required to access the message content.
  • AJAX: LuxSci has enhanced many of its web pages with "AJAX" support (a technology that allows faster access and revisions to web pages) that will benefit our users by loading web pages much faster.
    • All WebMail Preferences, the Contact Information and Change Password pages now use AJAX.
    • The Calendar, Task, and Address Book WebAides now use AJAX for showing and hiding subsections of the entry editor pages.
    • WebMail now utilizes AJAX for hiding and showing Advanced Search controls. LuxSci will continue to enhance our interface in future releases using AJAX and other new technologies.
  • New WebMail Preferences: LuxSci has added several new preferences:
    • Choose if your WebMail Signature should be added to the top or to the bottom of your new email messages. Previously, it was always added to the bottom.
    • Optionally disable the confirmation prompt that results when you delete email messages.
    • While you could always globally enable/disable the saving of sent email messages in a sent email folder, users can now also override their global preference on a per-message basis when they are composing the message.
  • Clear Email Folders: A new "Clear" command has been added to our "Email Folders" tool. This command effectively and quickly resets an email folder by deleting all messages therein and reclaiming all space used by those messages. This command never saves the deleted messages to any kind of Trash folder and is also available to account administrators - enabling them to more effectively help users manage their email folders.
  • Optimizations: Many optimizations to WebMail have been made that affect its efficiency and speed, especially when viewing large HTML-encoded email messages with many attached images.

These downloaded messages are saved as ".eml" files which are openable in many popular email programs such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Outlook Express.
WebMail Users Can Now Easily Download Individual Messages: Users of LuxSci WebMail can now easily and securely download their email messages from WebMail to their local computers for permanent storage and easy access. Save Inbound Email to WebAides: Enterprise WebAide users can now create custom email filtering rules to save the content and/or attachments of selected email messages to their eJournal or Documents WebAides. Combined with the sharability of these WebAides, this new feature allows you to have inbound content and files automatically saved shared with selected users.

New WebMail Preferences: Two new WebMail preferences allow users to choose if they want to view and/or compose email messages in a separate window or to always use the same window.

WebMail Interface Changes:
  • Pervasive look and feel, plus usability enhancements have been made throughout the entire LuxSci interface.
  • Users now have 2 ways to access Help, "in-line" or in a separate pop-up window. In-line can make Help access faster and more user friendly for those with newer web browsers.
  • The "WebMail Email Composition" page has been redesigned to better support email composition in HTML modes. Major enhancements include:
    • New HTML editing toolbar for writing HTML formatted email
    • HTML editing support for FireFox, Netscape, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla
    • "Smiley faces"
    • Uploading images into the HTML
    • Inserting formatted content from Microsoft Word
    • Viewing and editing attached images in forwarded HTML-formatted messages
    • Editing the HTML content of forwarded or replied to messages

    • HTML content can be fully loaded in-line into the page
    • Full support for inline display of attached images
    • Redundant text parts of HTML messages can be suppressed from view
    • Optionally suppress display of any images -- attached or linked.
    • All links in HTML messages open in a new window.

February 18, 2006

Webmail Updates: LuxSci has made two important updates to its WebMail software. 1. Users can now choose if the original draft message should be automatically deleted from the Drafts folder after the draft is sent. In the new default mode, where sent drafts are not deleted, users can use drafts as templates for sending multiple similar email messages. 2. When users receive an email with redundant HTML and text content and they are viewing the HTML content inline, they can choose to have the redundant text content suppressed. This is now the default mode. Users also can disable the suppression of these text parts if they want to always view all message content.

February 16, 2006

Administrative Enhancements: LuxSci's user administration options have been enhanced to give administrators even more control over what users can and cannot do. Now, administrators can optionally restrict users from accessing the following standard web-based email tools: change password, email forwarding, WebMail signatures, email auto-responders, custom email filtering, and spam and virus filtering.

The ability to restrict user access from these pages allows administrators to impose configurations on users that the users do not have the power to change. It also allows administrators to simplify WebMail for their users - handling some of all of these configurations themselves.

Import an Export Calendars with ICal files: LuxSci's WebAide Calendars now support import and export of calendar data using the standard ICal files. This makes it much easier to copy calendar data between LuxSci's WebAides and many different calendar programs. ICal format fully supports recurrent entries.
LuxSci User API Enhancements: LuxSci's User Application Programming Interface (API) now supports querying, import and export of calendar and tasks data for users with WebAide Enterprise Licenses. Together with the previously existing facility to query, import and export address book data via our API, programs can now be written to remotely access address book, calendar, and task information via secure SOAP-based Web Services calls.

You can permanently redirect all requests from http://www.yourdomain.com to http://yourdomain.com or from http://yourdomain.com to http://www.yourdomain.com or from your domain to any URL of your choice. This permits you to easily map one web site onto another or redirect from web site to another in a way that is search engine friendly.

Listen to Our Clients:

"I've been fortunate (maybe unfortunate) to work with a lot of different hosts and I must tell you guys... I simply have never experienced the level of service you provide, nor the amazing speed with which you handle support issues. I'm simply amazed at how easily I've been able to get things set up, and am sitting here just in shock at how quick you guys are. Kudos for you, there are plenty of other hosting companies out there that could take a lesson from you all."
