This 200 Megabyte limits includes:

  • Inbound Premium Email Filtering for messages up to 200MB in encoded size
Note: WebMail can view the 200MB messages received; however, WebMail is still limited to sending messages at most 70MB in size itself.  Additional our High Volume bulk email service also has a a limit of 100 MB/outbound message.

Maximum WebMail Message Size Now 70MB

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

LuxSci has increased the maximum size of a message that can be sent from WebMail from 50 megabytes to 70 megabytes.  This refers to the raw size of the message content plus all attachments.

The encoded maximum size of message that can be sent or received via SMTP remains at 200 megabytes; however, this can be increased for customers with dedicated servers.

WebMail does not have any limit on the number of attachments, just on the overall size of attachments.  WebMail supports receipt and viewing of messages that are up to 200MB in total (encoded) size.

Customize Your Email Message Size Limit

LuxSci provides very generous limits on the maximum message size that can be sent — 200 MB for SMTP and 70 MB for WebMail.  However, some clients have a business need to restrict the maximum size of a message that they can send and receive to something much smaller.

It is straight forward to bounce inbound messages that are “too big” with a custom filter and send a custom bounce message.  However,  the filter has to be configured on a per-user basis, and doesn’t restrict outbound messages sizes.

! This article has been superseded by:  Maximum WebMail Message Size Now 70MB

LuxSci has increased the maximum size of a message that can be sent from WebMail from 29 megabytes to 50 megabytes.  This refers to the raw size of the message content plus all attachments.  The size increase follows on the heels of our increase in the limit of the maximum encoded message size sendable through SMTP from an email program from 50 megabytes to 100 megabytes last week.

WebMail does not have any limit on the number of attachments, just on the overall size of attachments.  WebMail supports receipt and viewing of messages that are up to 200MB in total (encoded) size.

In the near future, LuxSci will be releasing some tools that make it easy for users to upload and download many files at once in bulk to and from WebMail and WebAides.  Stay tuned!
